Timmy the Teeth and local singer-songwriter Paige Overton complete a barn-burner of a lineup
Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, the North Carolina-based country-punk quintet on the rise, bring their unique spur-rattling style to Beauty Bar Las Vegas on Monday, July 16 at 8 p.m. This show is one of many country shows presented by Beauty Bar in recent months, which include touring acts such as Nikki Lane, JD McPherson, and Cash’d Out.
Sarah Shook & The Disarmers is a country band with a sneer, a bite, and no apologies. Shook’s original songs take on relationships gone wrong, bad decisions, cruel ironies, and excessive alcohol consumption for “damn good reasons.” Songs with self-explanatory self-deprecation (“Fuck Up”) are tangled in with a portrayal of a doomed relationship dripping with sarcasm (“The Nail”) and a bar patron considering taking a chance on a stranger (“Sidelong”).
When Shook’s first band, Sarah Shook & The Devil, broke up after a solid three year plus run, Shook and her guitarist, Eric Peterson, continued to meet, practice, and plan. In late 2013, they put together brief stint called The Dirty Hands which ended after a handful of shows. The project they were looking for soon arrived with the addition of former Two Dollar Pistols’ front man, John Howie Jr., as drummer. The band released their sophomore album ‘Years’ in April 2018.
Opening acts for this show include Timmy the Teeth, a Country/folk singer from American Fork, Utah, and local country songstress Paige Overton. Guests will want to bust out a fringe leather jacket and snakeskin boots for this grand ol’ time.
